Best Star Trek Original Series Episode

The Star Trek Original Series ran for three seasons from 1966 to 1969. There had been two pilots made prior to this although the first was never shown on TV until 1988. The second pilot was shown in 1966. William Shatner as Captain Kirk didn’t appear until the first episode of the Original Series, season 1.

Season 1 had 29 episodes, Season 2 had 26 and Season 3 had 24. StarTrek.com is running a competition to find the fans’ favorite episode from the Original Series. So far the competition has whittled it down to two episodes:

  • The Trouble With Tribbles which was the 15th episode in Season 2. This is a humorous episode where the Enterprise and a planet are threatened by tribbles, little furry animals because they breed so fast. In the end the tribbles are redeemed because they reveal a Klingon surgically-altered agent and also expose that the grain supplies on the Enterprise have been poisoned.
  • The City On The Edge Of Forever which was the 28th episode in Season 1. In this episode the crew of the Enterprise find a time portal on a remote planet which takes them back to the 1930s.

Which episode was your favorite, I wonder? One of my favorites was Requiem for Methuselah in the third Season.

I adore “the trouble with tribbles” episode, the way the little things get everywhere & the little noises they make – so cute. Only trouble is if you’ve got one now pretty soon you’ll have a million of the things.
