Spock Costume
If you are always logical, then a Spock costume is great to dress up in for Halloween. He is one of the most memorable characters from the Star Trek series, not only for the way he looks but for how he acts.
Spock was originally played by the actor, Leonard Nimoy, but in the recent 2009 movie, the young Spock is played by Zachary Quinto, whilst Leonard Nimoy makes an appearance as his older self.
Spock is an interesting character being half-human on his mother’s side and half-vulcan on his father’s. He has a unique appearance with upswept eyebrows, slanted eyes, Vulcan hairstyle and large pointed ears. He always had an austere and aloof air about him and was often lonely. Even so, he had a very strong friendship with Captain Kirk.
As first officer on the USS Starship Enterprise, Spock wore a blue uniform. If you fancy looking like the original Spock, then why not go for this Star Trek Classic Blue Deluxe Adult costume shown here on the left. This great long sleeved shirt features the Starfleet emblem and two gold bands on the sleeves. Add a pair of black pants and a pair of pointy ears to complete the look.
In the 2009 Star Trek film, about the earlier lives of Captain Kirk and his crew, the elderly Spock (Nimoy) travels back in time for the original Star Trek time to help his younger self (Quinto) and Captain Kirk stop the rogue Romulan Nero’s attempt to destroy the Federation.
The new Spock outfit is still blue, but slightly different as it has the Starfleet emblem printed all over it. If you want the up-to-date Spock look, then take a look at the 
Star Trek Movie (2009) Blue Shirt Deluxe Adult costume shown here on the right. It includes a blue jersey with shiny silver bands at the wrists, attached black dickie and an embroidered Starfleet emblem on the front.
Not forgetting the youngsters, there’s a great Star Trek Movie Deluxe Blue Shirt Child costume as seen on the left. Not only does it have the blue first officer top with Starfleet emblem and black dickie, it also includes pants with attached bootcovers. If you fancy going the whole hog, then you can add a pair of Spock’s vulcan ears.
Finally, for a seriously cute costume, take a look at the Little Spock Infant/Toddler costume shown below on the right. If you want your little one to “live long and prosper” then don’t miss this adorable one-piece
jumpsuit with black pants, blue top with Star Trek emblem and attached dickie. It’s finished off with a black headpiece complete with pointed ears sideburns.
An interesting fact is that Leonard Nimoy himself devised the the split-finger “live long and prosper” salute. He later wrote that it was based on the sacred hand position used by the ancient Jewish priestly class. To do this famous Vulcan salute, raise your hand, palm forward with the fingers parted between the middle and ring finger with the thumb extended. I’m a huge fan of Dr. Spock, from the original versions of Star Trek. Just because he was so cool and different, and definitely because of his pointy ears! Loved those ears… I saw a one-man performance years and years ago by Leonard Nimoy, and that was a real highlight for me.
